The THRIVE Program offers a three-staged approach to participant care:
Stage 1 (Evaluation):
The THRIVE Program begins with a detailed three-day multidisciplinary diagnostic evaluation in Chapel Hill, NC.
Stage 2 (Intensive Outpatient Program):
Those who qualify for the program are eligible to return for a three-week intensive outpatient program. This program integrates conventional medicine with complementary and alternative medicine approaches. Participants and their families will receive extensive education regarding traumatic brain injury and other health conditions to improve symptom self-management aimed at enhancing quality of life.
Stage 3 (Follow-up):
THRIVE Program participants will work with our case managers for up to 12 months following the completion of the intensive outpatient program (Stage 2). During this time, we will work to ensure care continues in your local communities.
Funding/Cost
There is no cost to veterans during the 3-day evaluation and in the future the three-week intensive outpatient program for medical services. We bill the patient’s primary insurance first (could be Tricare, VA, Medicare, private insurance, etc.). Any remaining cost after their primary insurance pays will be paid by the THRIVE Program. Regarding travel, the THRIVE Program also covers costs associated with travel including flights, transportation from and to airport and appointments, lodging, mileage reimbursement up to 500 miles, and food (breakfast, lunch, and dinner).
